Introduction
Go to step 1 ↓Everyone has a favorite shirt, hoodie, or other piece of clothing that has a stubborn grease or oil stain on it. No matter how many time it goes through the washer, the stain never seems to comes out!
This guide will show you a simple and effective way to remove those set-in oil stains from your clothing and help restore your favorite items.
IMPORTANT! Reminder:
- Most of the tools and materials used in this guide are common household items that you will likely already have at home.
- Make sure to find a FLAT surface and use a SOFT cleaning brush to avoid damaging the fabric.
Removing set-in oil stains can save both time and money by preventing you from throwing away the stained clothing and replacing it with something new. With this simple method, you may be able to bring your favorite clothing item back to life!
You can use any kind of laundry detergent you want to, you do not specifically have to use a Tide pod.
What you need

Place the clothing item with the set-in oil stain on a FLAT surface.

Locate the stain and position the clothing so the affected area is clearly visible and easy to access.

Apply the Dawn dish soap over the affected area.

Sprinkle the baking soda over the dish soap until the affected area is completely covered.

The first image shows what the clothing will look like after being scrubbed.

In the second image, I sprinkled more baking soda over the scrubbed area.

Let it sit for 2 hours minimum.

After the clothing has sat for the 2 hours, you will need to prepare the washing machine.

Sprinkle the OxiClean detergent into the washing machine.

Put the laundry detergent into the washing machine.

Place the clothing in the washing machine.

Make sure the water temperature is set on warm, then press start.

After the clothing has completely finished washing, take it out and hang it up using the hanger.

Once fully dry, make sure to check and see if the set-in oil stain has been removed completely.

You should have a brand new piece of clothing, oil stain free!

If the set-in oil stain is not completely removed after the first attempt, repeat the process as needed until the stain has been fully lifted from the clothing. Some stains may require multiple treatments depending on how deeply the oil has penetrated into the fabric!
