How to Fix the Siemens Dishwasher E24 Error Code

Lift the lower basket straight out of the tub.

Pull the middle basket forward, lift each wheel over the rail stop, and slide the basket out.

Remove the upper basket the same way by lifting the wheels over the stops.

Twist the small filter lock and lift the cylindrical filter out.

Lift out the metal filter below it and clean the filter area.

Use an industrial wet dry vacuum to remove standing water from the filter well.

Look down into the sump opening and remove any visible debris.

Use a knife to gently pry up the small white plastic pump cover.

Lift the cover out to expose the impeller.

Carefully rotate the impeller by hand to make sure it spins freely.

Remove glass or debris if the impeller is blocked.

Use a phone camera to inspect the impeller for damage if you can't see it clearly.

Continue with hose and siphon checks if the impeller spins freely and E24 keeps returning.

Remove the small removable plastic parts from the wash area one at a time.

Use a toothpick to push debris out of any small openings.

Rinse each part with water.

Clean the similar part below the upper basket the same way.

Set the pump cover back into the sump in the same orientation as before.

Reinstall the metal filter.

Reinstall the cylindrical filter and twist the lock to secure it.

Find the wastewater hose connection at the siphon under the sink or near the dishwasher drain connection.

Use adjustable pliers to squeeze the spring clamp tabs and slide the metal ring clamp back.

Work the hose back and forth to loosen it, and pull it from the siphon connection.

Inspect the hose end and siphon opening for sludge, blockage, or a still-sealed connection.

Clear any blockage before reconnecting the hose.

Unscrew the siphon fitting and lift the siphon out of its connection.

Inspect both openings and the hose end for blockage.

Clean any dirty areas that could restrict water flow.

Reinstall the siphon and tighten the fitting.

Add enough water to the sump or filter well to make drain movement visible.

Hold an industrial wet dry vacuum over the wastewater hose opening.

Turn on the vacuum and watch whether water is removed from the sump.

Open the door slightly.

Grip the door cover by the handle area, pull it upward, and pull it forward to remove it.

Remove the lower cover so it doesn't scrape the floor when the dishwasher is pulled out.

Remove the screws securing the dishwasher to the underside of the counter at the upper left and right corners.

Turn the rear leg adjustment screw counterclockwise to lower the back of the machine.

Turn both front feet counterclockwise to lower the front of the machine.

Lay floor protection in front of the dishwasher to avoid scratching hardwood or other flooring.

Pull the dishwasher straight out from under the counter.

Place the dishwasher where the left side is accessible.

Use a Torx screwdriver to remove the screw under the lower edge of the left side panel.

Flex the side assembly back and pull the plastic section away from its clips.

Use adjustable pliers if the clips are tight.

Fold the assembly outward and disconnect lower connections as needed.

Lift the assembly upward to release it from the lower mounts.

Inspect the waste outlet pipe that runs out to the siphon.

Inspect the pipe that runs from the filter area into the side assembly.

Remove any compact dirt, kernels, or other debris that falls from this pipe.

Fill an air pressure water pump with hot water and dishwasher detergent.

Pump the mixture through the dirty pipe to loosen grease and buildup.

Use a steel wire to gently poke the pipe and break compact dirt loose.

Keep cleaning until water can move through the pipe.

Pour hot water into the pipe.

Use an industrial wet dry vacuum at the outlet to check whether the water can be sucked out.

Add more hot water and dishwasher detergent if fatty residue keeps blocking the pipe.

Repeat the rinse and vacuum checks until water passes through easily.

Apply silicone-based sealing compound around the O-rings, small connector seal, connector ends, and rubber seal.

Slide the side assembly back into place without pinching any cable.

Seat the side clips in their original positions.

Reconnect the gray cable.

Reconnect the blue cable by snapping it back into its connector.

Use a Torx screwdriver to reinstall the two screws.

Reinstall the inner plastic fitting and any clip or fitting removed earlier.

Set the side panel all the way down against the lower edge of the dishwasher.

Lift the panel onto the lower clips.

Push the panel forward until the top clips snap into place.

Use a Torx screwdriver to reinstall the side panel screw.

Reattach the water stop device to the water supply.

Connect the wastewater hose to the siphon and secure the clamp.

Tighten any connection that leaves a drip on the paper.

Slide the upper basket into its rails so each wheel rides on top of the rail.

Slide the middle basket in the same way so each wheel sits on its rail.

Set the lower basket back into the tub.

Run a short wash or drain cycle and confirm the dishwasher drains without the E24 error.
