Introduction
Use this guide to clear an i20 error code on a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher by cleaning the filter area, the pressure switch channel, and the pressure switch if needed. The pressure switch, also called a pressure sensor, helps the dishwasher read water level or pressure. Buildup in its channel or switch can make the drain pump keep running and trigger the i20 code. This guide was written for a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher, and other Frigidaire dishwasher models may have minor differences.

Step 1 Prepare the dishwasher safely

Shut off the water supply if you need to disconnect the water supply hose.

Disconnect the drain hose and water supply hose if they run through the floor or prevent the dishwasher from sliding out safely.

Keep towels nearby to catch water from hoses or the bottom pan.

Step 2 Try a breaker reset

Leave the breaker off for 10 or 15 minutes if you only need to finish a cycle.

Restore power and try the cycle again.

Turn the breaker off again if the i20 code returns.

Step 3 Remove the filter and filter cover

Open the dishwasher door.
-
Remove the filter from the bottom of the tub.

Remove the filter cover from the same area.

Set the filter and filter cover on a towel.

Step 4 Clean the pressure switch channel

Find the small hole in the sump area near the filter opening.

Use a cotton swab, small brush, or pipe cleaner to clean debris from the channel.

Clean the filter screen until the mesh is clear.
-
Clean the filter cover before reinstalling it.

Step 5 Slide out the dishwasher

Pull the dishwasher out far enough to reach the lower underside.

Step 6 Remove the lower insulation

Release the insulation from the series of clips along the side of the dishwasher.

Move the insulation out of the way to expose the bottom of the dishwasher.

Step 7 Identify the pressure switch

Look at the bottom of the dishwasher for the switch with black wires coming out of the bottom.

Hold the body of the switch instead of pulling on the black wires.

Step 8 Clean the pressure switch if needed

Unclip the pressure switch from its mount.

Look inside the switch for buildup around the white portion and the D-shaped hole.

Use a cotton swab, small brush, or pipe cleaner to remove the buildup.

Clip the pressure switch back onto its mount.

Step 9 Dry the bottom pan

Watch for water from the drain hole while the pressure switch is removed.

Use towels to dry any water in the bottom pan under the dishwasher.

Step 10 Reassemble and test the dishwasher

Reinstall the lower insulation by clipping it back into the side clips.

Reinstall the clean filter cover and filter in the tub.

Reconnect the drain hose and water supply hose if you disconnected them.

Turn the water supply back on if it was shut off.

Restore power at the breaker.

Start the dishwasher and continue or rerun the cycle.
