Introduction
In this guide you will find the steps to repair a Brazilian Hammock. The purpose of this guide is to restore the durability of the hammock by sewing on a patch. The guide demonstrates the repair using hand stitching.
If you would like to reinforce the rip before placing the patching and have access to a sewing machine, follow this guide for creating a Zig Zag Patch. After creating the zig zag patch, place the fabric patch over it for a smoother feel and nicer appearance. We also recommend reinforcing the rip on both sides of the hammock.

Place the hammock on a flat surface.

Use scissors to cut the frayed ends from the damaged area.

Align both sides of the tear leaving a quarter-inch gap between both sides of the tear.

Use safety pins to temporarily hold both sides of the tear together.

Place the fabric on top of the tear and using safety pins temporarily hold the fabric to the hammock.

Use the threaded needle to sew from the bottom of the patch up and around the perimeter.
