Introduction
Most Washing Machines use a pressure sense to measure water level in the drum, and will only unlock door / spin if level is below a certain point.
In Hotpoint NSWR 963C WK this sensor is mounted in the top front corner of machine to the side panel and connect to base of drum drain via peice of rubber pipe.
What you need

Remove the two screw the connect back of lid to back of washing machine

Lift back of lid vertically hinging at the front

At about 45 degree to front of lit should become free and the whole lid can be lifted away.
