Introduction
If your HP Stream 8 model 5801 battery needs to be replaced because it has lost the ability to hold a charge, then this is the guide for you.
The battery provides power to the tablet. A faulty battery or battery that isn't able to hold a charge properly needs to be replaced.
Before using this guide, make sure you are using the original HP brand cable and AC/DC adapter. You should also make sure you have the adapter plugged directly into the wall outlet. If you charge your tablet for an hour and still have no charge, continue to follow this guide and replace your battery.
A punctured battery can cause a dangerous fire. If your battery is swollen, please review What to do with a swollen battery.
Before you begin, power down your device completely and disconnect from any power source.

Slide your finger around the rest of the back cover, lifting it completely off of the device.

Lift up on the small black tab at the connection point to unlock the flex ribbon cable using the tweezers.

Carefully pry up the gray metal piece on the end of the flex ribbon cable using tweezers.

Carefully remove the battery connector from the system board using the tweezers.

Lift up on the small black tab to unlock the LCD screen flex ribbon cable using the tweezers.

Carefully remove the LCD screen flex ribbon cable from the system board using the tweezers.

Carefully remove the USB flex ribbon cable from the connection point on the system board using the tweezers.
