HP ProBook 640 G2 Hard Drive Replacement

What you need

  1. HP ProBook 640 G2 Hard Drive Replacement, Battery: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Flip the laptop so the bottom is facing up.

    • Use a JIS J1 screwdriver to remove eight 6 mm screws from the bottom of the laptop case.

    • Use a Torx T9 screwdriver to remove the single 6 mm screw.

    • Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the bottom case.

    • Insert the end of the opening tool into the seam between the bottom and top case and slide it around the perimeter to release the clips.

    • Remove the bottom cover.

    • Use a JIS J1 screwdriver to remove the seven 6 mm screws securing the battery.

    • Lift the battery from the bottom edge and slide it out of the socket on the motherboard.

    • Loosen the four JIS J1 captive screws on the hard drive tray.

    • Use the black tab on the hard drive tray and pull it toward the bottom of the laptop to remove the drive.

    • Use the JIS J1 screwdriver to remove the four 3.0 mm screws on the sides of the hard drive tray—two from each side.

    • Remove the old hard drive from the tray.
