Introduction

Follow this guide if you need to replace the back panel of your HP Notebook 17-x047na.

What you need

1. Step 1 Battery
  Turn off and unplug the laptop before replacing the battery.
  
  The netbook needs to be top-side down with the lid closed.
  
  Slide the plastic battery release latches towards the lock symbols.

2. Step 2
  Slide the battery out from the laptop.

1. Step 3 Back Panel
  Using a Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove thirteen 7.0 mm screws from the back case.
  
  Using a Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the CD/DVD drive screw.
  
  Use an ejection pin to eject and remove the CD/DVD drive.

2. Step 4
  Use an iFixit opening tool to separate the back cover from the laptop.
  
  Gently pry open the cover, trying not to break the plastic.
