Introduction
If your HP 250 G7 is slow to boot, frequently freezes, or you’re running out of storage space, replacing or upgrading the SSD can dramatically improve speed and reliability. This guide will show you how to remove the existing drive and install a new one.
Before starting this repair, check the HP 250 G7 Troubleshooting pages to confirm that the SSD is the cause of your performance or storage issues.
To begin:
- Power off the laptop
- Disconnect anything plugged into the laptop
Safety Warnings
- Disconnect the battery before touching the SSD
- Avoid static discharge (ESD)
- Use a plastic spudger, not metal tools
- Handle the SSD by the edges only

What you need

Unplug the charger and all peripheries. Shut down the laptop before beginning disassembly.

Flip the laptop so its underside is facing up.

Use a hair dryer to lightly heat the rubber feet.

Use a spudger to lift and remove the rubber feet.

If your SSD comes with an extender, remove this first by unscrewing the M2.0 x 3.0 screw on the edge of the extender using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Remove the M2.0 x 3.0 Phillips #1 screw securing the SSD.

To reassemble your device, follow the above steps in reverse order.
Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
