Introduction
Go to step 1 ↓This is a guide for removing the back cover on the Gigabyte Aero 15x for upgrades or for maintenance.
To start, shut down your computer.
What you need
Tools
-
-
-
Using a Torx T6, remove the 13 screws. Remember their exact spot because the 3 in the "middle" are longer (see picture 2).
-
These 3 screws are hidden by a black sticker. Simply push down on the screwdriver to catch the indentation of the screw head.
-
-
-
Using plastic tools, start unclipping the back from the body. Insert one tool and, using a second, gently follow the perimeter.
-
Do not insert your tool too deeply, to avoid snagging a clip.
-
Do not unclip the back face fully; only the front and the 2 sides. You can nevertheless detach the 4 corners.
-
Photo 3 shows the location of the snap fits to disengage in green. In red, these are the "clutch hinges" of the case (see next step).
-
-
-
Before removing the hood, remember that it is held by 2 aluminum rails at the back (hinge side).
-
Remove the cover starting at the front two corners. Lift up at those corners.
-
Do not force if you encounter a hard spot; the metal could bend. Use leverage with a small tool because the cover has no ribbon cables.
-
-
-
To reassemble, follow these steps in reverse order.
