Introduction
This guide shows how to remove the back cover of the Garmin DriveSmart 71 EX in order to access the internal components of the device. Removing the back cover may be necessary when replacing parts such as the battery, screen, speaker, charging port, or other internal components. Before beginning, make sure the device is powered off and disconnected from any charger or vehicle power cable. Work on a clean, well-lit surface and keep track of each screw as it is removed, since screws may vary in size or length. Use the correct Torx screwdriver bit to avoid stripping the screws, and use ESD-safe plastic tools when prying near the battery or motherboard. Avoid using metal prying tools whenever possible, as they can damage delicate components or puncture the battery.
