GE Ultrafast Combo Washer Dryer Maintenance

Video Guide
This guide was transcribed from a YouTube video.

What you need

    • Press the release lever on the left-side filter and pull the entire assembly straight out.

    • Gently run your fingers over the mesh to lift away visible lint.

    • Avoid pressing hard on the plastic mesh to prevent damage.

    • Discard the collected lint before continuing.

    • GE advises cleaning after four to five loads but heavy lint may require doing this every load.

    • Wipe the front lip of the housing with a damp cloth to collect loose lint.

    • Use a vacuum with a thin, soft tip to reach farther inside if lint remains.

    • Keep the nozzle away from the right side to avoid bending the exposed blue condenser coils.

    • Slide the filter assembly back into place when the housing is clear.

    • About every 40 washes hold the lint filter under a stream of hot tap water.

    • Confirm that water flows straight through the mesh without pooling.

    • Hot rinsing removes unseen residue from softeners and dryer sheets that can restrict airflow.

    • Allow the filter to dry completely before reinstalling it.

    • Press down on the plastic latch to open the filter housing and expose the black foam insert.

    • Lift the foam filter out and rinse it under warm water until clear.

    • Align the small mounting holes on the foam with the pegs on the housing; it only fits one way.

    • Insert the bottom of the foam housing first, then snap the top closed.

    • Slide the complete filter assembly back into the machine.

    • Pull each drawer out fully, then press the rear tab to release it from the dispenser recess.

    • Scrub detergent residue from the trays using warm water and a brush.

    • For reinstallation position the bottom drawer so its center notch slides under the internal rail before pushing it in.

    • Push the upper drawer straight in until it clicks.

    • Perform this cleaning every two to three months, especially if you use fabric softener.

    • Lift the inner edge of the rubber gasket and remove any lint or debris.

    • Wipe the entire gasket area with a dry cloth to prevent moisture buildup.

    • Check for standing water and dry it to discourage odors or mold.

    • Verify the drum is completely empty.

    • Pour one cup of liquid bleach directly into the tub or add a washing machine cleaning product.

    • Select the Tub Clean cycle; the machine will wash for about one hour then dry for another hour.

    • Run this cycle monthly or every 40 loads if you wash frequently.

    • Pry open the small bottom door with a flat-bladed screwdriver and fold the white drawer down.

    • Place a shallow dish or pan under the drain pump housing.

    • Slowly unscrew the blue cap to let water drain into the dish; empty the dish as needed.

    • Remove the cap completely and take out the filter to clear debris.

    • Inspect the pump cavity and wipe away any remaining particles.

    • Screw the blue cap back firmly, swing the drawer up, and snap the outer flap closed.

    • Water will spill if the pan is not emptied in time.

Conclusion

Regular upkeep keeps the heat-pump system clear, preserves fast drying times, and extends the life of your appliance.
