Introduction
Go to step 1 ↓Use this guide if your Frigidaire electric stove clicks but never heats even though the element, thermostat, and incoming power test good. Replacing the failed control-board relay can restore normal bake operation without replacing the entire board, but it requires basic soldering skill and common tools.

Step 1 Confirm the relay has failed

Run the bake cycle and listen for rapid relay clicks without any heat from the element.

Only continue with this repair after confirming the element, thermostat, and incoming power have all tested good.

Step 2 Document the wiring and disconnect the board

Detach the marked wires and lift the control board clear of the stove chassis.

Step 3 Remove the board housing
-
Remove the screws securing the control board housing to the rear panel of the stove.

Pull the board assembly out of the stove to gain full access.

Step 4 Release the circuit board

Depress the small plastic retaining tabs to free the circuit board from its plastic housing.

Step 5 Inspect for visible damage

Inspect the underside of the board for burnt solder joints, dark spots, or cracked traces around each relay.

Step 6 Identify the correct replacement relay

Read the voltage and amperage ratings printed on the failed relay and record its part number.

Step 7 Desolder the failed relay

Place the board on a stable surface and heat one relay pin with the desoldering iron until the solder melts.

Trigger the integrated vacuum pump to remove the molten solder from the pin.

Repeat the heat-and-vacuum process on all five pins until the relay lifts free, which usually takes two to three minutes.

Step 8 Clean the pads and repair traces

Scrub the exposed pads and surrounding area with a wire brush to remove oxidation and burnt residue.

Step 9 Position the new relay

Insert the new relay into the cleared holes, matching the original orientation.

Apply masking tape across the relay body to hold it flush against the board while soldering.

Step 10 Solder the new relay

Apply fresh solder to each of the relay pins, forming smooth shiny joints that fully wet the pads.

Step 11 Inspect the solder joints

Inspect every joint; add solder and reflow any connection that did not bond properly.

Make a final pass with the wire brush to clear flux residue and ensure clean contacts.

Step 12 Reinstall the board housing

Snap the repaired board back into its plastic housing until all tabs lock.

Secure the housing to the stove with the original screws.

Step 13 Reconnect wiring

Reconnect each wire to its original terminal using your photos or the wiring schematic located behind the stove’s back plate.

Step 14 Test the bake cycle

Power up the stove and run the bake cycle to verify the element heats normally without rapid relay clicking.
