Introduction
This is a way to repair the heating element on a dish drawer. Heater plates for DD602 and 603 are no longer available and it seems likely that this repair will work on newer plates as the need comes up.

Using a multimeter, you should be able to find continuity when touching any 2 points of the grey heater tracker. If you can't, the element won't heat. If you look closely you will find an interruption in line.

I tried lots of ways to solder a little wire to fix the tiny gap in the grey line but they didn't work. The solder wouldn't stick to the enamel. Those white blobs are the remains of a failed attempt to attach the bridging wire using epoxy putty. Ignore them.

What did finally work is the copper painted areas.

The copper paint comes from a rear window defogger kit. This is the one I used. I put 4 layers on (drying a bit between coats). Test for continuity. The paint needs to dry fully before it reads properly. I waited overnight before I retried the dishdrawer.

The repair has worked for years since. Although lately I did have to repair another spot. THat's when I nabbed these photos.
