Dyson V7 Battery Replacement
Video Guide This guide was transcribed from a YouTube video.

Introduction

Go to step 1 ↓

Use this guide to replace the battery in a Dyson V7 cordless vacuum. The battery, also called the battery pack or rechargeable battery, powers the vacuum’s motor. Replace it if the vacuum won’t turn on, won’t hold a charge, or has poor battery life. Use a replacement made for the Dyson V7, and match the specifications printed on the original battery.

      • Reinstall the clear bin on the motor unit.

      • Reinstall the cowl.

      • Make sure the bin and cowl are fully seated before pressing the trigger.

      • Do not run the vacuum with the bin or cowl removed, because the motor opening is exposed.

      • Press the trigger only after the battery, three screws, bin, and cowl are installed.

      • Run the vacuum briefly and confirm it powers on.

      • If the vacuum still doesn’t work, check that the battery, screws, bin, and cowl are fully seated.

Conclusion

After installing a new battery, charge it to 100%, and keep charging it for at least two more hours. Use the vacuum until it shuts off because of a low battery, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%.

Recycle the old battery according to local lithium-ion battery rules. Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler. Repair didn't go as planned? Ask our Answers community for help.
