This is a Do-it-yourself tutorial on how to mend the worn out inner thigh of denim jeans. It is meant to look unprofessional. It will function well and if done right it will look very unique and the patch itself will be unnoticeable.

Use a simple back and forth pattern with the needle and thread to close the holes.

Use an embroidery hoop as a stencil to trace out the damaged area.

Use fabric scissors to cut along the back panel of the jeans. Follow the line.

Place the cutouts in the denim swatch.

Trace a larger shape of the cutout.

Use fabric scissors to cut out the patches.

Center the old denim onto the new patch.

Trace vertical and horizontal lines on denim by using a straight edge and some chalk.

Pin the old denim in place.

Using an embroidery needle and an embroidery floss add stitches into the patch.

Use a Straight Stitch (just up and down sewing) following the vertical and then horizontal lines.

Pin the patch with as little of the new patch showing as possible.

Use a Whip Stitch to attach the patch. This is an over/under sewing pattern.

Repeat a second time.

Turn inside out and trim down the patch. Use a straight stitch to tighten up any loose spots.

The style is meant to look rustic and DIY. By no means is it a professional finish. Still functional and if done right can be quite cute!
