What you need

  1. Dell Latitude 5300 Series RAM Replacement, Lower Case: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Loosen the eight captive screws using Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • The captive screws are attached to the base cover.

    • Pry the cover off of device using an opening pick while lifting the base cover.

    • Work your way around the device prying on all sides to release the base cover.

    • Lift away base cover revealing the interior.

    • Locate the SIM card tray on the right side of the laptop.

    • Insert a SIM ejector tool or pin into the hole of the tray to eject it.

    • Remove the SIM card tray from the laptop.

    • Peel up the black tape securing the battery cable to the battery.

    • Use your fingernail to disconnect the battery connector.

    • Two clips secure the RAM module in place, one on each side. Using your fingers, spread the clips away from the RAM module.

    • Carefully slide the RAM module out of the slot at the same angle it popped up at.

    • Avoid touching the gold connectors, primarily to prevent the transfer of skin oils and to avoid electrostatic discharge. They are the contact points between the RAM and the motherboard and any contamination can impede conductivity which can lead to memory errors
