This guide shows how to safely remove and replace the battery in a Dell Latitude 3540. The battery is user-removable and can be replaced without opening the laptop.

Turn the laptop over so the bottom is facing up.
Slide both tabs into the unlock position.
Hold the spring-loaded tab in place. Move the second tab to the unlocked position.
While holding the tab(s), gently pull the battery outward from the laptop.
