What you need

    • Remove the eleven 15 mm screws on the corners and back of the device casing using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

    • If you're using the iFixit tool kit, you may need to utilize the 4 mm nut driver as an extension in order to reach the deep screws on the backside of the case.

    • Take the casing apart by pulling the rubber corners away from the body of the speaker.

    • Pull the top handle away from the body of the case once the corners are removed.

    • Remove or slice the DeWalt sticker on the left side of the device in.

    • Push out the two pins on the top of the device.

    • You may need to pry at the bottom of the device, if so, use an opening tool.

    • Unplug the connections running between the two sides of the case by pinching the tab on the non-speaker side and pulling away from the point of attachment.

    • Remove the wired connections to the motherboard by squeezing the plastic tab and pulling away from the point of connection.

    • Unscrew the four 10 mm screws securing the motherboard with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

    • Lift the motherboard up and out of the device.

    • Remove the four 15 mm screws holding the cover in place using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

    • Remove the cover and set it asside.

    • Unscrew the two 15 mm screws holding the C8 Power inlet in place using the Phillips #2 screwdriver.

    • Pull the power inlet out of its slot.

    • Take note of where the silicone adhesive is applied, you will need to reapply it after replacing the inlet.

    • Using an opening tool or small pliers, remove the silicone adhesive surrounding the wires.

    • Ensure that the board is clean and free of residue before moving on to the next step.

    • Remember which wire attached to either side of the original power inlet.

    • Use the solder pump or desoldering wick to desolder the wires and C8 inlet from the board.

    • Solder in the new replacement inlet with the wires to the motherboard.

    • Make sure the correct wires are soldered to the appropriate points.

    • Replace the silicone adhesive that previously surrounded the wires.
