Introduction

This replacement guide includes instructions on how to replace the LED light located at the front of the DCR010, just under the control panel.

This process requires you to solder and desolder, so before we begin the replacement process, it is important to prioritize your safety. Soldering and desoldering involve high temperatures, causing potential health risks to you or those around you during this process. Make sure you are following this guide while in a ventilated area.

Remove the eleven 15 mm screws on the corners and back of the device casing using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
If you're using the iFixit tool kit, you may need to utilize the 4 mm nut driver as an extension in order to reach the deep screws on the backside of the case.

Step 2

Take the casing apart by pulling the rubber corners away from the body of the speaker.
Pull the top handle away from the body of the case once the corners are removed.

Remove or slice the DeWalt sticker on the left side of the device in.
Push out the two pins on the top of the device.
You may need to pry at the bottom of the device, if so, use an opening tool.

Unplug the connections running between the two sides of the case by pinching the tab on the non-speaker side and pulling away from the point of attachment.

Inside the front panel, remove the three 15 mm screws holding the control panel to the inside of the device using the Phillips #2 screwdriver.

Detach the four rubber latches holding the control panel in place.
Remove the control panel from the main body of the device.

Use the Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the two 15 mm screws in the interior of the control panel.

With your soldering iron, use the wick to desolder the pins and remove them.

Solder in the new LEDs.
Bend the ends like the original's bulbs were before inserting.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow the above steps in reverse order.
Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
