CANON POWERSHOT G16
MEMORY BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When your favorite little camera asks you to set the date and time every time you turn it on,
which is particularly annoying, it means the memory battery is dead.
Contrary to everything said on the web, this replacement is very easy and within reach of anyone
with a minimum of care. If needed, your regular watchmaker will be able to do it for you!
First of all, you need to get the battery, an ML 614, which is very common on the web.
Aliexpress offers a pack of two for 11.24 euros including shipping.
Then there are 6 screws to remove, unclip the front cover, and change the battery.
PROCEDURE
1/ Remove the front accessory port cover:
2/ Two screws on the right side:
3/ Two screws under the housing:
4/ Two screws on the left side:
5/ Unclip the front cover starting from the left side:
6/ Unclip and pop out the battery by sliding a thin screwdriver (1 mm) between the battery and its holder:
7/ Clip the new battery in by pressing downwards:
8 / Reattach the front cover starting from the right side, put the screws back, have a beer …
It's not more complicated than that!! But the beer is essential after all these emotions!!
