Introduction
If your Broan PM250 exhaust fan (Serial Number 041810004796) is running at a lower speed or does not seem to be filtering out cooking smells, chances are the exhaust fan filter needs to be replaced.
A clean exhaust fan filter allows your exhaust fan to run at optimal speed and provides the necessary filtration needed when cooking. By replacing your exhaust fan filter, you allow better air flow to the exhaust fan, and this also prevents any chance of damage to your exhaust fan unit.
Due to grease build-up, it is important to replace the exhaust fan filter frequently to avoid any chance of fire. While changing out the filter, be sure to take appropriate precautions.
Make sure to disconnect the power source before beginning this exhaust fan filter replacement.
What you need

With the exhaust fan housing resting on a flat surface, carefully remove the wire placeholders that are holding the fan filter in place.

Using a mild detergent, clean the housing both inside and out. Be sure to clean the fan blades as well.

Place a new filter in the housing unit and replace the wire placeholders to hold the exhaust fan filter in place.

Holding the housing unit in place, carefully replace all the screws to secure the housing.

Once you have completed the exhaust fan filter replacement, turn the exhaust fan back on at the power source to ensure proper operation.
