Introduction

This guide documents the replacement of the power switch on the Bissell Featherweight Lightweight vacuum cleaner. A faulty power switch in the vacuum renders the device unusable. When performing the repair please ensure that the device is not connected to a power source as the repair involves working with exposed metal connections.

Separate the filter from the electronics housing by pressing the grey latch.

Unscrew the electronic housing screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
Remove the front panel.

Identify the switch within the internal electronics.
The switch is connected to the rest of the circuit via two terminals with one terminal covered by a blue heat shrink tube.

Remove the switch from the clasps. Use a spudger to push down on the metal tab and pull the switch terminal away.
When removing the blue heat shrink side just pull the heat shrink below the metal terminal.
