Introduction

If your laptop cannot detect Wi-Fi networks, frequently disconnects, or displays network adapter errors, the internal M.2 network card may need replacement. This guide will walk you through safely removing the back panel, disconnecting the battery, removing the network card, and installing a replacement.

Please ensure the laptop is turned off before beginning.

What you need

1. Step 1 Back Panel
  Remove all eleven 5 mm screws on the back panel with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
  
  Insert an iFixit opening tool between the back panel and the chassis. Carefully pry around the edges until the plastic clips release.
  
  Do not force the cover. If you feel significant resistance, double-check for missed screws.
  
  Lift the back panel off the laptop.

1. Step 2 Network Card
  Disconnect the battery connector.

  Using a JIS #000 screwdriver, remove the 3 mm JIS #000 screw securing the M.2 network card.

  Using an opening tool to gently pry up and disconnect the two antenna cables connectors.
  
  Caution: Lift from the small metal connector head, not from the wire itself. Pulling on the wire may damage the cable.

  Hold the network card by its edges and slide it out of its socket.
