Asus ROG Strix GL553VD Battery Replacement

Introduction

This is a simple guide on how to replace the battery in your Asus ROG Strix GL553VD gaming laptop.

Lithium batteries such as the one inside your gaming laptop deteriorate over time, losing their ability to hold a charge. This may not be a problem if you use your gaming laptop plugged in most of the time, but if you travel with your laptop and notice the laptop holding less charge and lasting for less time while on battery power, a battery replacement may restore some of the functionality of your laptop.

What you need

  1. Asus ROG Strix GL553VD Battery Replacement, Battery: step 1, image 1 of 2 Asus ROG Strix GL553VD Battery Replacement, Battery: step 1, image 2 of 2

    • Use a JIS screwdriver to remove the ten 4 mm screws from the bottom cover.

    • Open the flap in the middle to reveal the 11th screw and remove it using the same JIS screwdriver.

    • Gently lift each corner to remove the cover from the laptop.

    • If you seem to have difficulty removing the cover, you may use a plastic opening tool to pry up one of the corners to get you started.

    • Gently pull the white battery connector out towards the battery.

    • Carefully lift the battery out from the case to remove it.

    • The battery will come off easily as the screws are already removed.

Thank you for the guide. It was tricky to find the screw in the middle, hidden behind the flap. The screws are however not torx as shown.

Great job... quick and easy !
I've changed the battery of my ASUS ROG GL553VD but there is a problem... the battery doesn't charge and it is noticed a charge level at 255% in windows o_O Do you know if another action is needed ?
