Introduction

Laptops, particularly gaming laptops, are highly favored by many, due to their portability. However, gaming laptops still encounter issues related to battery durability because of heavy use and constant charging. If the battery in your ASUS ROG Strix G15 G513 has come to the end of its life cycle, follow this guide to replace it.

Before beginning this repair, power off your laptop and unplug it from the charger. If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.

What you need

1. Step 1 Battery
  Flip the laptop over.
  
  Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove:
  
  Four 3 mm-long PH1 screws
  
  Three 6 mm-long PH1 screws
  
  Two 5.5 mm-long PH1 screws

2. Step 2
  Use an opening too to gently pry the back case from the laptop.
  
  Take care not to force it and open it very slowly. Do not remove the panel from the main chassis completely as it is connected to the motherboard by two ribbon cables.
  
  Start from the bottom right corner and with a prying tool/guitar pick work your way to the bottom left, and top right corners then gently lift it up, and it will snap off as seen in the disassembly section in the attached Service guide document

3. Step 3
  When detaching the bottom panel, you'll notice two ribbon cables connecting it to the motherboard.
  
  Use the tip of a spudger or your fingernail to flip up the small black locking flap.
  
  Gently pull each ribbon cable from its socket.
  
  The white line on this ribbon cable marks the edge of the connection area. To reinstall, insert the cable into the connector up to this line, and then close the locking flap. If the cable doesn’t insert easily up to (or very near to) this line, it’s probably misaligned and needs to be gently removed and repositioned.

5. Step 4
  Push up on the silver lock securing the battery connector.
  
  Push gently to avoid damaging the socket.

  Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the battery.

  Disconnect the battery cable from the socket on the motherboard.
