Background

Released in 2011, the iHome iW1 is another installment of the Air Series speaker systems. The speaker has Wi-Fi connectivity and Airplay (Apple's new wireless streaming technology specifically made for iPod and iPhone devices). The device is also compatible with any media device utilizing a 3.5 mm auxiliary port. The rechargeable internal battery can be charged through the USB port or the provided dock. Users can control the device through the backlit touch button controls or the iHome app. The audio system is composed of two woofers paired with two tweeters.

Although not many, the iHome speaker does have a few issues. The main concern with consumers is the complication with the Wi-Fi connection and also some intermittent issues with battery life, both of which are covered in the repair guide below.

Identification

The complete system weighs 6.5 lbs and can be distinguished by its large front face and glass-like top. It features a rectangular shape, a black grille, and the iHome logo on the center front of the silver plastic base. To identify your device, look for the model and serial numbers printed on a black label on the bottom of your iHome iW1 speaker.
