Background
The Beatles Rock Band Hofner Bass controller was released on September 9, 2009 by MTV Games in a bundle with the video game The Beatles: Rock Band. It is a replica based on the Hofner bass guitar played by Paul McCartney. This was the third installment of the Rock Band franchise. While the game and replica bass guitar were released for three different consoles, this device page covers all three consoles as they do not differ significantly between consoles. It requires 3 AAA batteries.
It has been criticized for its delicate construction and tendency for the paint to fade over time.
Identification
The Beatles Rock Band Hofner Bass differs from other guitars released for the game primarily in its appearance. The bass has a slightly elongated, narrow body that resembles a violin. The front of the body features a brown ombré finish that transitions from dark brown around the edges to lighter brown toward the center. It has black control knobs on a white plastic panel near the base, a whammy bar, and a white plastic accent near the top of the front. The Hofner logo is printed on the headstock, and the model name, number, and other device information are printed on a label on the back of the bass.
