Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 (15-inch) Repair

Microsoft's Surface Laptop 8 (sold as the Surface Laptop, 8th Edition) was announced on June 16, 2026, alongside the Surface Pro 12. It features Snapdragon X2 Plus or Elite processors with a neural processing unit rated at up to 80 TOPS for on-device Copilot AI features. Like its predecessor, the Surface Laptop 7, it comes in two sizes: a 13.8 inch model and a 15 inch model. The 15-inch model gains a sharper 3270 x 2180 display (up from 2496 x 1664 on the Surface Laptop 7) and keeps the removable SSD.

The 15-inch Surface Laptop 8 retail price starts at $1,699.99 and can be ordered in Platinum and Black; the entry Snapdragon X2 Plus configuration comes in Platinum only.

The Surface Laptop devices all look very similar. You can identify your Surface Laptop model by the 4-digit number printed on the top edge of the back cover.

The 15-inch Surface Laptop 8 is identified by model numbers 2037 and 2139 in Microsoft's service documentation. Model number 2037 is shared with the Surface Laptop 7 (15-inch) — if your device shows 2037, check the processor in Settings (Snapdragon X2 indicates a Surface Laptop 8; Snapdragon X indicates a Surface Laptop 7).
