This drive can be upgraded to be a SuperDrive/FDHD drive to be able to read/write High Density floppies by changing out the Double Density drive mechanism for the Sony 2.0MB High Density Auto-injection floppy drive mechanism. It is generally easier to find this mechanism as pulled from a parted out Macintosh than to try to find a complete orginal external SuperDrive/FDHD unit.
