Background

Aequitron's Model 9500/9550 is an apnea monitor used to measure respiration and heart rate in one device. This device monitors the rhythm of patients' respiration to prevent apnea caused by anything from throat spasms to cardiac arrest as well as monitoring arrhythmia and other irregular heartbeats. The device is to be used by medical professionals in hospitals.

Being able to monitor patients' irregularities in breathing and heart rhythms allows for medical staff to make swift decisions to allow for optimal patient care and outcomes. With the warning alarm and lights, medical staff can easily determine the cause of a patient's medical distress, assess how to regulate the issue, and provide the necessary care to alleviate the symptoms.

Aequitron, Inc. was acquired by Mallinckrodt in 1989.
