Yashica L AF won't rewind

Hey! I bought a Yashica L AF secondhand. It works great; automatically loads the roll etc. When I switch the rewind slide, nothing happens... I tried changing the batteries, but still nothing happens. I have checked if the battery makes contact when using the rewind slide by lightly pressing the shutter while sliding and it does give a green light, indicating that the battery works and must make contact. Help! I love this camera!

Options

if the camera loads film and takes pics, the battery is likely good.

Maybe the reason it was 2nd hand was it didn't rewind.

If the rewind motor fails to engage or run when you activate the rewind switch, the issue could be a weak battery, but u changed them, a stuck mechanical switch, or a dead internal electrical motor.
