Sony MHC-AG220 CD tray doesn't open

After not using my Sony MHC-AG220 home stereo in a few years, when I turned it on and tried to open the CD tray, all I'm getting is a brief grinding noise and no other response. What will I likely need to fix this/what level of expertise is required to try and disassemble/fix/reassemble the thing? The rest still appears functional, so I'm a bit hesitant to just try and potentially break it for good.
