Is the back via going to cause me problems

When I was cleaning my board I noticed the one of the back via looks stretched out is it going to cause problems?

To determine if you’re looking at a cosmetic quirk or a hardware failure, check these three things:

  • Cracked Traces: Look closely at where the green/blue trace enters the via. If there is a hairline fracture right at the edge of the hole, the connection is compromised.
  • Lifted Pads: If the copper ring around the via is peeling away from the fiberglass board, vibration (like from the DualShock's rumble motors) will eventually snap the connection.
  • Through-hole Continuity: A via’s job is to connect the front of the board to the back. If the "stretch" has broken the internal plating, the signal won't pass through.

Common DS4 Failure Points

If the via is in one of these high-traffic areas, it is more likely to cause issues:

  • Near the Analog Sticks: This area sees the most mechanical flex. A damaged via here usually results in "phantom" inputs or stick drift that cleaning won't fix.
  • The Charging Port/EXT Ribbon Connector: Vias here handle power. If they are damaged, the controller might fail to charge or sync.
  • The Battery Connector: If the via is part of the power rail, the controller might randomly shut off.

1. If I the strip the mask around the vias does it compromise the connection?

2. I have a second controller that doesn't charge nor can't connect to the PC via usb cable after I replaced the sticks, but it syncs to my ps4 via wireless.

3. I did a continuity for that via and got as solid beeping sound from my multimeter.

Hi!

It does look like that the solder pad it self, still look fine.

I think it will work perfectly fine if you solder a new one in.

I would try it and test to see if it works.
