Why can't I open any apps

when I download an app and try to open it it doesn't allow it just goes back to home screen please help

try to hold down home and power button 10 sec for a hard reset and you maybe should try deleting some files if you have less than 500 mb free most likely if that doesn’t work the ipad is to old
