iPod won't charge

I bought a used Ipod Classic 5 about two months ago. The seller put a new battery in as well. I have been using it fine for about two months now. Charging via wall and/or computer worked fine. I haven't used it for about two weeks now and the last time I used it I did until the battery was completely drained.

I went to charge it on my wall outlet now and it wouldn't show any signs of life.
I waited a good 2 hours and still nothing happened.
Whenever I tried turning it on, it would just show the apple logo for a brief second and then shut off again.

Something weird to note is that after nothing happening via wall charge I tried charging it on my computer and when I plugged it in I got a windows notification for a USB power surge, telling me to immediately remove the device from USB because it was drawing too much power.

What could be happening? And how do I fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Replace the battery. The battery the seller replaced it with is probably a low quality cheap one.

Try use Firewire if you can, if it shoots into life, which it should as it gives much more power and it lets iPods with even a basically dead battery to turn on, it is probably the battery that is the issue as it may be a low-quallity one.
