I have red dot of death

I replaced the thermal paste on it couple days ago, when i have it fully assembled the console gets the red dot of death, but when i take it out the casing it self and try to boot it up outside its shell it works. has anyone experienced that?

Hi!

Please check the basic things first!

Is everything 100% Connected properly?

It’s possible that some pleasure is applied on the CPU/GPU when put it back again.

Also please check for shorts… make sure that the metal is not touching the components on the motherboard.

Get the secondary error code. If it's GPU related (instructions here with all the error codes). If it's GPU related, I would do the pressure test (apply pressure to different parts of the board while trying to turn it on), if the pressure test doesn't make the error go away (or at least change the behavior), you probably have a dead GPU assuming the error code says so.

You might also have some weird debris in the metal case that is causing a short, or it could be overheating because you didn't screw in the screws for the X-Clamp.
