How do I reattach the fan ribbon cable to the mini?
I removed the fan assembly in order to swap the SSD and in doing so dislodged the connection of the ribbon cable to the logic board. I can't reconnect it.

If you look at Steps 19, 20 & 21 in this guide Mac mini (2024) Fan Replacement you should be able to see how the ZIF connector works.
You need to carefully lift the compression latch off of the ribbon cable in Step 20 we can see in the two images the lifting of the latch to release the pressure on the cable.
As the cable is already free this step is needed to open the slot. Next after moving aside the covering which is attached to the cable as seen in Step 19 to gain access the the ribbons connector underneath (here we need to get it away so we can insert the cable)
You just need to thread the ribbon into the slot like threading a needle. Make sure you feed the ribbon connector end squarely and evenly until it bottom's out. If we look at Steps 19 first image we can see just a little bit of the gold contacts of the ribbon are visible.
That should do it if you are still, having issues I think a picture of the cable and the connector might be needed to get a better idea what you are facing.

It appears that I no longer have the Ziff connector. I'll try to post a picture but all I have is the cable on the fan unit and the housing that is on the logic board. Not sure how to post pictures.

@glickschultz - It's hard to tell as I do see the outer shell of the connector. Do you have any loose pieces? If you do please post a few pics on what you have.
Yeah, no loose pieces. I can't think of how I could have lost a piece, but, maybe...
@glickschultz - if you fold back the ribbon cable cover you should be able to thread the ribbon cable into the slot as seeing in the guide images I posted to, click on the image to get the larger image and zoom in a bit.
As the image is not quite clear I think the latch is in the released state so the ribbon should enter and when you just see the very end of the go,d contact surfaces on the ribbon cable you should then be able to carefully fold the latch down to lock the ribbon.
Be aware this is a simple compression type of connection so if you pull on the ribbon you ca easily pull it out.
