My 2ds won't power up

So the charging light turn on for a few seconds and then turnback off this is probably because I don't have a battery so I tried directly powering it up from the battery compartment by using wires instead of a battery but it won't work is the console dead or is there still a chance it's working

And what happens if you use a battery? Is there a way to test it with a battery (after removing the wires)?
