Try deleting your thumb print and re-adding it. This resolves the issue most the time for my iPhone, let’s see if it works for your Moto.

Hi,
Can you still access your phone OK but cannot get the thumbprint to work or are you locked out of your phone because the thumbprint doesn't work?
Try starting the phone in safe mode in case you are using a 3rd party screen lock program on your phone to see if you can get in OK
