sony a6400: Screen replaced but still not working.

Everything in the camera works perfectly except the screen. The sensor which detects when the screen is open also works.

To try and resolve the issue. I have replaced the touch screen and the display driver PCB but the screen still isn't working.

I have reseated and checked the hinge flex cable and can't see any obvious signs of damage.

Even though there doesnt seem to be any visible damage to the flex cable could it still be the problem?

Your thoughts and ideas are most welcome.

Update (07/28/25)

After checking the ribbon cable with the Digital Multimeter and ordering a new one. The issue has been resolved. Everything is now working well.

I just need a new gasket for around the screen if anyone knows how that's done?

Thank you so much for all your help and special shout out to @jayeff, he has been been amazing 👏👏👏

sony a6400: Sony A6400 No, power, no current draw on charging port. Fuse issue?

I recently replaced my a6400 sd card slot assembly and put everything back together. To my surprise the camera won't turn on. Checked and tested the battery on other units and is fine with almost full charge. Tested charging directly on the camera micro usb port and noticed it has no current draw as in it was like disconnected. Now i need to at least find the fuse to test if it was blown. I can't remember sagging any components and i was really careful doing the disassembly process. Please, i really need help. Thank you so much in advance.

sony a6400: How to change top flex cable or on/off block?

Sony a6400 on/off switch

Hello, my a6400 simply doesn’t turn off, even when I switch to “off“ position, the camera works just fine, the only issue is that I have to take the batery out to turn off the camera.

I suspect that the tiny lever from the flex cable os broken.

I need a step-by-step teardown of this part of the camera, ir order to replace the top flex cable or the whole block if it’s easier, below are the images of the components I need to replace;

sony a6400: fried camera after using wrong plug in dummy battery

First off this is a Sony a6300 not 6400
I fried it when I was using a dummy battery, because the dummy battery came with 2 USB ports for power, I had to use a USB to power but it kept making a buzzing noises and thought it was strange so found a power point with the same connecter and fried it... I know very stupid of me and wasn't thinking

So my questions are

1) is the main logic board that needs replacing or can it be something else?

2) can i use parts from a a6000 or a6400?

sony a6400: Adhesive for LCD Screen replacement A6400

I have just replaced my LCD Screen on the Sony A6400. Everything works great but the gasket or adhesive that holds the screen in place needs replacing.

I have done a little research and B7000 or T7000 (black) glue seem to be the suggested option for phones, but it does seem a little strong, especially if you need to replace the screen again in the future. I have looked at black Tessa tape, but 1mm seems too wide as it has to sit on a very thin ledge; otherwise, the screen will not sit flat.

It would be great to hear your advice and experience on what's best

sony a6400: Sony A6400 Won’t Turn On with Original or New Battery, but Works with

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Sony A6400 and could really use some advice. The camera refuses to turn on when using the original battery or even a brand-new replacement battery. However, when I connect a dummy battery to a power supply, the camera powers on and works just fine.

Things I’ve Tried:

Tested multiple batteries: I bought a new Sony battery (official), fully charged it, and the issue persists.

Checked battery contacts: I cleaned the contacts in the battery compartment and on the battery itself with isopropyl alcohol, but no luck.

Battery door: The door seems to close properly, and the latch is functioning as expected.

Firmware check: The camera is running the latest firmware.

Resetting the camera: I’ve tried removing all power sources and pressing the power button to discharge any internal charge. Didn’t help.

Observations:

The dummy battery works flawlessly, which suggests the issue isn’t with the power regulation circuits entirely.

The problem seems specific to detecting or drawing power from regular batteries.

Questions:

Has anyone encountered a similar issue with their A6400 or another Sony camera?

Could this be related to a faulty battery detection circuit inside the camera?

Is this a common issue, and if so, does Sony typically cover it under warranty (even if it’s expired)?

I’m trying to figure out if I should send it in for repairs or if there’s something else I can try first. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!
