iPod Touch 1st Generation: Disabled iPod is not recognized by my computer or iTunes

My iPod is not functioning and I have put the iPod in recovery mode in hopes to restore the device through iTunes. However, neither my computer, nor iTunes, will recognized it. I bought it from Ebay and since I have tech experience I am hoping to fix it myself.

My iPod touch 1st generation says it needs to be connected to itunes. However, whenever I connect it, it says it's locked with a passcode.. I can't enter a passcode because it's saying to connect.

I tried everything and I still get the "ITunes could not connect to the ipod touch because it is locked with a passcode. You must put the passcode on the ipod before it can be used with itunes" message. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there so here is my problem, I have an iPod touch first generation and I just reset it, I also downloaded iTunes for my computer *which is an hp laptop that runs on windows 8*, now when I plug my iPod into my computer iTunes comes up and says it cannot connect to this iPod touch? what do i do to fix this issue? btw it does connect to my computer but not to my iPod

iPod Touch 1st Generation: Oil inside Screen...Will it Dry?

I accidentally spilled a bottle of essential oil inside my bag with my iPod Touch still inside.

It works fine...for now but there is large oilstain marks (like pockets of oil) inside the screen and everything is a lot darker.

Will it dry out over time or should I try to open it and clean the screen out. I don't want it to short circuit randomly one day.

I plugged it into my computer in hopes that the heat will warm and dry the oil inside...Would this be a good idea?

iPod Touch 1st Generation: Won't sync with Itunes anymore

The error message that I get when I plug my Ipod into my Macbook Air 11' is as follows:

iTunes could not connect to the iPod touch “Ben's ipod” because an invalid response was received from the device.

I've been plugging it into this same Macbook Air for about 3 months or so now, without issue. Suddenly this occurs. I checked for any new updates on the Macbook, and there were none. I tried restarting the computer, restarting the Ipod, and no matter what the same error message recurs. Is there any way around this problem?

I'd rather not spend $200 on a new Ipod unless I absolutely have to. It is about 8 years old, but all in all it has been functioning fairly well recently.

iPod Touch 1st Generation: iPod Touch recovery mode & USB Device Not Recognized

Hello.

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch 8 GB which is not recognized by the computer and is in recovery mode.

I have tried lots of things to recover it - I tried installing LibUSB, DFU, different computers, and different cables. They all end up the same way - Windows says "USB Device Not Recognized."

I tested it in Ubuntu 10.04 - it said something along the lines of "device descriptor read/64, error -64" in dmesg. lsusb shows nothing about the iPod.

In Device Manager, the iPod, labeled "Unknown Device", has error "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

All help is appreciated.

Just picked up a used ipod touch but when listening to music i cannot turn up volume, control bar doesnt exist, ipod works fine when hooked up to a dock and there is sound coming out of the headphones.

well i have the 3.1.1 software on my first gen. iPod touch and one night i restarted the iPod by pressing the on/off button along with the home button and it turned right back on and only showing the apple logo for about 15 to 20 seconds and turns off after that and now it does the same thing every time i try to turn it on...

can somebody help me or give me a clue on what's wrong with it!

but the thing is that when i turn it on the apple logo appears, but after 10 or 15 seconds it been on it turns off and the same thing happens when i plug it to charge or to the computer and it never goes to the red slider

The thing now is that i dont have wifi so wats the problem with it now/

My iPod touch wont turn on at all.I tried connecting to computer and it syncs and it makes that noise when you connect your iPod to computer but the iPod doesnt turn on at all.I thought it wasnt charged but my computer tells me it is fully charged so I dont know why it doesnt turn on. I did connect the iPod touch to a cassete input to hear my music in my big stereo. It played like three songs and then it turned off and from there on it didnt turn on even when i charged it and connected to the computer.What should i do is there a solution?

My iPod touches audiojack must have somthing in it because when i try to plug my headphone into it,it wont allow it to go all the way at first i though it must be the headset because at first i couldnt hear the music then i tried out a brand new pair and same thing the music would not play i then seen that it's not in all the way i took a Q-tip and and tried to clean it and nothing it didnt work so i tried it another way by cutting all of it off except a little part put on some Windex and still nothing.

If any sugestions plz add respecting all sugestions.

8 GB: ipod touch first gen still not working Ok so i did what u told me to do and that was to hold the home button and it said ipod in recovery mode must restore then i tried restoring it and it said unknown problem occcured in 1601. do u have any suggestions.

I went to delete everything on the entire ipod touch so my daughter could have it and the the start up screen with the apple on it with the thinking wheel is all the further it will go and the wheel does not even turn? so I thought if I let the battery die and then connect it to my computer that maybe it would start up again but it just goes right back to that screen?

hi, I bought this as a project.. thought it would be easier than a nano I bought (thanks oldturkey for taking that off my hands!) The listing was "won't turn on"...new battery I thought. So replaced that, found old battery still had full charge... The ipod feels warm to touch, as if it is charging, however there is no display despite reset. Itunes doesn't detect it. Dock looks ok.. no bent pins/dirt etc. Where to go from here is the question. Is this a new logic board? or is there something else I could try. The ipod hadn't been opened that I could tell, no obvious water damage.

wellllllllll...never say die! I changed the battery(again)..it had exploded and had never turned on. Ordered another, turned on then slowly faded out...resoldered white wire and BOOM! we have ipod. Can't tell you how relieved I am..have had this in the "to do" pile for a while. Sometimes taking a break and coming back with a fresh mind works wonders.
