iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Replaced Battery - Dead, No Charging, No PC Hardware Detect

I was asked to change the battery in an iPod Nano 3rd Gen for a friend. I’m not new to device repair and everything was straightforward in the guide. Soldered a new battery in and the device doesn’t appear to charge and hooking to a PC does not mount the device.

Now, I was asked to change the battery because the unit was dead, but I have no idea for how long. I never saw it work before changing the battery.

They are wanting to keep the content on it, so as a last resort, they ordered another battery and I replaced once again. Same thing… just dead.

I have a USB current meter and I put that in line with the charging cable. The current reads 0.00A output which tells me it’s not even attempting to charge or power the unit.

What I would like to know is whether this iPod should power up with only USB connectivity (and even no battery), or if the unit needs a working battery to operate at all. If it should be detected by a PC with no battery, then I suspect the logic board is dead.

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: replacing old battery(3wires) by a 2 wires battery

After the odyssey of opening the ipod, the original battery with 3wires (red, black and white) was replaced by a 2 wires battery and it worked fine for hours.

Unfortunately it is no charging when plugged, and it seems a common issue for whose who has replaced battery.

Is ther any way to fake the temperature sensor through a shortcut?

maybe installing a resistor?

ideas?

The dimensions of required battery are not very standard or easy to find.

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: iPod nano gen3 software problem

My ipod nano gen 3 doesn't load his operating system. I thought it was because of low charge but when i charged him nothing happened. It is my old ipod and it is important for me as memory. I wanted to recover him but i used apple mac and i connected ipod to finder and after "preparing" mac said that software is unavailable. I used other windows computer and i get error 1675 from itunes, problem with communication. I opened back cover because i thought that maybe sething happened inside. Also i cannot access to files on my ipod from computer. I bought new cable and it haven't change nothing also i cannot Boot it because it only react to main and select button to restart. I wanted to download Rockbox software but i cannot access my ipod from computer to load software. I have a suspicion that this is because of problem with NAND flesh memory chip. I want to change this chip, but i have read that i need to program my new chip before replacing but i have no idea how to do it. Can you help me to solve this problem? I would be grateful to you all

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: iPod nano 3rd with bad flash memory?

I have an iPod nano 3rd with a good LCD that boots into nothing, just a white screen. Diagnostics not available either. I suspect a corrupted or dead flash memory. I’m thinking of desoldering it and checking with a tsop48 programmer. Any ideas what else might be an issue? Any ideas on what are some good replacement memory chips that are compatible? I have some old 8gb nand from iPod nano 4th generation.
