iPod Nano 3rd Generation: Spotify on an old iPod?

Is there a way of any sort to have access to Spotify on an iPod Nano 3rd gen (A1236)?

I think the major problem would be to have it connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Maybe a possible solution is to make the iPod be a piggyback of a mobile phone where you have Spotify, but idk.

Problem is Spotify won’t let you sync your iPod when you connect it to your pc so there’s no way to download your entire Spotify library to your iPod.

I found there are some programs that claim to be able to do it, but they have two major problems:

1 - you have to select each song and drag it onto the program;

2 - they are quite expensive (30-40$) whereas most iPod mods can be done with less expense.

Big thanks to anyone who’ll answer!

After using it for 20 years and putting weird Rockbox - related stuff on it my iPod nano 2's drive is now completely broken. It became a RAW drive a while ago and now my computer can't even format it. I'd like to swap a new storage chip onto the Nano 2 but I have no idea what kind I should buy and the max storage it would support. Can anyone confirm what kind of chip I should buy and the largest amount of storage it would support? thanks in advance🤓

iPod Nano 1st Generation: Factory Reset iPod and now it wants me to restore it.

Hi all, I restored my IPod Nano 1st gen on iTunes on my windows computer, upon doing so the ‘Do not Disconnect’ screen was continuously showing up I closed ITunes and it said it recognised an IPod in recovery mode, and it came up with the default name ‘IPod’ instead of the custom name. The screen was still showing ‘Do not Disconnect’ so after doing a bit of quick googling I did a hard reset which bought up the Apple logo. Then a screen came up saying I needed to restore it via iTunes. Will doing so factory reset it? As when I do it originally it seemed to not do it and now I’m stuck with basically a bric until I can find out exactly what to do.

Cheers for the help!

iPod Nano 3rd Generation: iPod nano 3 not properly restoring(MacOS 26.3 Beta)

I just dug out an iPod nano 3 with a dead battery. After I replaced the battery, it boots up with a "connect to iTunes to restore." message. I hooked it up to my MacBook with MacOS 26.3 Beta and tried to restore it with finder, but every time the process gets stuck and a warning pops out.

(I removed the insulating tape and swapped out the battery wires just in case they are damaged, pretty sure the battery works but the issues mentioned below are still there after I removed it.)

No matter what I choose, the iPod would then reboot back to the main page and refuses to be recognized as an iPod when I plug it in to my Macbook. The iPod tab in finder would freeze up and show a loading icon even after I unplugged it. The iPod also crashes and reboots every time i scroll the clickwheel and press buttons after the macbook "restored" it.

I rebooted the Macbook and plugged the iPod in again, and this time it is recognized by Finder as a corrupted iPod and prompted me to restore it, which led to the warning mentioned before.

Swapping on a new clickwheel solved the crashing issue, but the iPod still refuses to be recognized by Finder as a working iPod and prompted me to restore it.

I tried to format it into Windows and restore it using Apple Devices App, but all I got was an error code and nothing else. I tried formatting it into Apple Extended OS, ExFAT, basically every option Disk Utility offers, and wiped the disk clean a couple times, but it still behaves the same as before. Force restarting by pressing down select and menu didn't work, and it won't enter disk mode either.

I have never encountered a similar issue with MacOS 15, and this isn't the only iPod that MacOS failed to restore. My nano 6 is also having similar issues after I restored it, and only by formatting it into Windows format and restoring using Apple Devices did it properly restore.

Is there another way I can restore it? Or should I do something with the MacBook itself? Thanks in advance.

iPod Nano 1st Generation: Why won't iPod nano 1st gen buttons work or show up in itunes/files?

My iPod charges from my USB cable and powers on, but is stuck on the main screen.

The Hold switch works and the lock icon turns on/off.

Holding Menu and Select to hard reset works, but doesn't fix the problem. Holding Menu and Pause/Play to enter Disk Mode doesn't work.

I let my iPod die and tested each button individually to see if it powered on, and it did for the menu, back, and select buttons, but not for play/pause or next.

Because most of the buttons register, I think it's a software issue, and have been trying to do a clean install of the OS, or switch to Rockbox, but I've plugged it into both a Windows computer and a Chromebook with two different cables, and tested all USB ports, and it won't register in iTunes or file explorer. It also doesn't show up in Device Manager or Disk Manager, so I can't update any drivers.

I'm comfortable opening my device, and I modded a full size iPod a few years ago to expand the storage, so recommendations for physical fixes would also be appreciated.

It was an iPod I got off of Facebook marketplace a while back and the buttons didn't work when I received it, but at the time I was able to transfer music to it through iTunes.

Any ideas on what to try?

iPod Nano 7th Generation: What usually causes a Nano 7 to be completely dead?

I found a secondhand nano 7 being sold for 20$. The description says it's completely dead and showed no reactions when it's charged, either using a pc or power adapter. Judging from the images It has no water ingress, no serious falls and minor cosmetic damage. Does a dead battery cause this, or is it a motherboard problem? Did anyone successfully repair a nano 7 with these symptoms? All the functioning iPod nano 7s I found typically cost around 40$, so I'd really like to know whether I can fix this.

iPod Nano 5th Generation: Why does my screen look whitewashed?

Bought a secondhand iPod nano 5 and somehow it have a screen that displays whitewashed images. I thought it was because the battery has totally died and wasn't delivering enough power, so I took it apart and replaced it. However, after I replaced the battery and cleaned the screen press connector contacts, the screen still look white. The same problem occurred when I booted it with and without the casing. Here's the funny thing. I found no signs of water ingress, not deforming, no corrosion, nothing out of ordinary at all when I was replacing the battery. The motherboard is almost pristine with no signs of any damage. the screen is also as perfect as it can be. I tried resetting it using windows, Mac, even wiping the disk completely clean and reinstalling the system, nothing worked. The only improvement after a whole afternoon of cleaning and formatting is that the display returns to normal randomly but flashes white after a period of time.

here's a nano 4 for comparison.
