iPod Mini: Has anyone put SSD larger than 256GB?

I’ve been modding my iPod mini. Largest micro SD memory card I’ve installed is a 256GB. Read it’s fine, so long as you don’t shuffle its files (as music) as It’ll supposedly crash — which I never do anyway.

Has anyone put in a 512GB or larger SSD? These micro SD memory cards are just so cheap nowadays, may give it a try.

Reason for doing this is as for added storage memory, and of course it'll be Rockboxed.

How do I get my iPod fixed? Also my iPad I cannot hear anything. I can see the words of the music but no sound. Is it possible it could bad connection? Faulty ear pads?

So, I got 2 iPod minis (one first gen and one second) for free due to condition, and they didnt turn on or show any signs of life, but I bought a new battery from ifixit and replaced both the old batteries. The Second gen is working normally. The first gen was also working normally at first, but I noticed the battery was draining a little faster than the 2nd gen, even though they both had the same battery. The next morning, the first gen said it was dead, even though it had full charge the night before, so I plugged it in and came back an hour later. Once I tried to turn it on though, it showed zero signs of life. Could it be a faulty battery? Or maybe there’s some other problems with the iPod?

I plugged my iPod Mini into my computer, and it showed the screen where it says do not disconnect without ejecting. iTunes didn’t recognize the device, and it didn’t appear as a hard drive under windows file explorer. About 30 seconds later, it showed the folder with the exclamation point. Every 30 seconds it cycles between the two screens. I thought it might be a hard drive problem, so I replaced the drive with an adapter to a micro sd and an empty micro sd, and have the same results. No matter which drive is installed, it shows the folder with the exclamation point when turned on and not plugged into a computer. What is wrong with it and how do I fix it?

When I boot up my iPod it goes into the set up and shows a lock at the top (which is assume is hold mode.) When I flip the switch it turns off. But when I flip it back it turns back on. HELP! I Just got a new mother board!

hello there i've put new (cf) memory 8 gigabytes silicon power brand new and sound memory into ipod mini 1st generation but i cant access disk mode or diagnostic mode . i've tried fat32 and Fat but every time i turn it on it goes to that infamous folder and url screen and when i use key combinations in order to put it into disk mode while restarts it frizzes on apple logo! even i've waited about an hour nothing comes up still

any helpful response will be appreciated !

iPod Mini: Selected songs stay at 0:00 - not playing after CF card.

I have two iPod minis of the same year. I have installed a new CF drive and it is synced, it starts OK. It shows the songs but, going to any song and hitting play shows the time of the song on the lower right, the progress bar, and 0:00 on the left. It stays that way. It stays at 0:00 and will not play. It is in play mode, but there is no movement of the progress bar and no movement from 0:00. This unit came from a Goodwill so who knows what problems it had before. Is this some setting problem I have to understand, or is this a logic board problem? Logic Board seems unlikely as this is not a folder icon anymore at startup (it used to be).

iTunes sync was done in several ways, fill extra space, don't fill extra space. Took it apart again and stuck the CF card into my mac at one point to make sure it was apple formatted.

CF is SanDisk Extreme 32 GB

Hello! I'm trying to restore an old iPod Mini. While syncing, it powered off and now I cannot restore it.

I have put it into disk mode, and when plugged in, it says that it is corrupted and needs to be restored. After trying to restore, it says the iPod is "Busy" and cannot be restored.

I do not think this is a hard drive problem, as it shows a sad folder, not a sad disk or iPod. And help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I was changing the HDD in my iPod mini 1st gen. Unfortunately, while putting it back in the case, I broke off capacitor C78, front side of the board, near the dock connector. Anyone have its value?

Before I replaced my battery the iPod would play music when plugged in and for a short time not plugged in before saying low battery and shut off. I got a new battery and replaced it, followed instructions exactly and now it won't turn on or anything. What could have gone wrong?
