iPod Classic: Dead iPod- NOT the battery

iPod won't turn on, regardless of whether or not it is plugged into anything. The battery life is still in really good shape and was fully charged at the time it stopped working. Had walked to work with it on, left it in pocket, took off coat, then took out iPod to use in an audio system and it wouldn't turn on. Seems improbable it could randomly die in 5 minutes...

iPod Classic: My iPod will only play through one headphone?

I have a 160 GB iPod Classic, bought just over a year ago... so, the warranty is no longer in effect. Basically, my headphones jack is messed up. Sound will only come out the left ear. If I press the headphones against the left side of the jack it will play correctly, but I have to hold it there in order for it to work. Is this fixable? Or should I just go ahead and buy a new one?

iPod Classic: Battery won't charge up - only works when plugged in.

Hi,

It got to the time when the battery needed to be replaced, or so I thought. I took it to a repair shop who installed a new one, after which they told me I was good to go. Once the battery had reached its max paying time, I plugged it in (for several hours)for it to recharge. However, when it came to unplugging it in view of listening, again the battery stated it was out. I tried different chargers, both through the mains and a computer. So, I brought it back to shop where I left overnight so they could take a look at it. The next day, I returned to find that they had tried multiple batteries but the device still wouldn't charge. I can now only as a consequence listen to it plugged into the wall. I suspect there is something wrong with the motherboard but not too sure. Can you help?

I got an I pod with what I thought was a bad battery so I replaced the battery and it worked perfect until it came time to charge. When I plug it in the I pod has the charge screen and the battery symbol says it's charging but when I disconnect it the battery bar doesn't move.
iPod Classic: What is causing these lines on my iPod's screen?

My issue is similar to the one that Why do I have a gray horizontal line on my screen? had, but was never completely resolved. There is another interesting fact about this problem that I didn't see mentioned there.

My iPod Classic has lines that go across the screen, but that disappear once the screen fades (not completely asleep). I squeezed different areas around the LCD as per one of the answers to the similar question, but nothing changed. The most odd part about this problem is that sometimes the lines extend along the width of the screen shorter or farther than others if I reset the iPod or after leaving it on the charger for a while.

Could this problem be a connection, a component on the logic board, or even the LCD itself? == Update ==

The lines magically disappeared. Not even joking. I didn't touch my iPod over the weekend, and when I grabbed it to go to the gym this morning, the lines were gone.

iPod Classic: Red x in circle after replacing hard drive, logic board?

Well, I replaced the hard drive, logic board, hold switch, LCD screen, and battery on my 80g 6th gen classic. Basically everything. The only carry over piece is the click wheel. I even swapped outer shells. This was necessary as my replacement hard drive turned out to be a 'thick' version. Un like my previous 'thin' version). It powered up which was most impressive as this is my 1st attempt at repairing any iPod. The hard drive appears to spin up nicely as I can hear a nice smooth whir when it 1st powers up. However, I get a red circle with an x in the middle and iTunes won't recognize the iPod. I can't get the iPod into disc mode either. Does the battery need a good charge 1st before attempting to put it in disc mode and connect to iTunes? I'm feeling a bit discouraged at the moment. How do I fix this? Sorry for the long winded question, but I wanted to try and be as descriptive as I could.

iPod Classic: iPod flashing apple when plugged in to computer?

hi,

I bought my 120gb ipod classic of off a friend, it worked for 5 hours then stopped working, it had 3/4 of a battery when i checked it like 5 mins before it quit working. it said to plug in to itunes to restore. I tried plugging it in to itunes but itunes and my computer would not read it. It had a permently black screen when not unplugged, and when you plugged it in it flashed the apple logo. I replaced the battery thinking that this would fix it. after replacing the bettery, i let it charge overnight. this morning i checked it and it had a faint apple, noww it is back to the blinking apple. This thing has got me so mad it is not funny. The people at geeksquad told me that it might be some kind of software problem and to send it to apple but im a single mom and i cant aford that at all. thanks in advance for any help i need to save this thing.

P.s. I have made sure the hold button is not on, i have tryed the toggle hold, press menu&center, the computer will make the noise that sounds like it reconized it but it will not show up in computer or itunes. when it is plugged in and i hold the center and top button however itunes will load and say it is perpairng for recovery, that will load fully and then it goes back to the traditional itunes screan without reconizing it, someitmes i will get either the 2005 error or the 1621 error saying it is discovered but not reconized?
