iPhone SE 2020: ribbon cable-iPhone se 2020

I recently ordered a replacement screen for my wife's black 2020 iPhone SE (order number US3319379).

I followed the ifixit online tutorial for replacing the screen, and it was functioning, but when I got it all back together and sealed the screen no longer powered on. I re-opened the phone and found a small rip in the upper ribbon cable, which caused the display not to function.

As a stopgap, I removed the upper ribbon cable and earpiece assembly from the old display, and installed them to the new display. They are functional but not working right.

I examined the two cables, and I noticed that the material used on the ifixit upper ribbon cable does not appear to be the same material or nearly as robust as the original apple cable. I am wondering if there might be any way that you could send a new replacement screen (IF435-000-3) and/or adhesive so that I can fully fix the phone or at least make it waterproof?

Any help you can provide would be appreciated; thanks again,

iPhone SE 2020: iPhone SE 2020 restarts every 3 min - panic log "thermalmonitord..."

Hello,

I dropped my phone, thereafter it now restarts every 3 min.

Thanks to ifixit and use here, at least I now know that is due to the phone rebooting (not battery or others), problem

is even saved in the "panic log" (see attached). Apparently, "no successful checkins from thermalmonitord/nservice returned not alive with content : is_alive_func returned unhealthy ... Can anyone give me some more specifics on what to repair, possibly, which part to exchange? Many thanks!

Greetings,

iPhone SE 2020: Concern About Logic Board Swap on iPhone SE 2020 After iOS 18 Update

Hey everyone,

I’ve got an iPhone SE 2020 (Product Red) that’s still running fine but has a bunch of issues:

Battery health: 77%

Broken back glass

Heavily scratched screen

Loose volume buttons

Right-side speaker not working

I recently came across a listing for an iCloud-locked iPhone SE 2020 (White) with 88% battery health and a perfect display with other parts that work flawlessly. My plan was to buy it for parts and do a logic board swap, since I’d prefer to keep using the phone for another year or two — and I only want to use genuine Apple parts, not aftermarket ones.

However, I’ve read that iOS 18 may have extended Activation Lock to cover not just the logic board, but also paired components. That’s making me wonder if a board swap would even work anymore without triggering the lock.

For reference:

My Product Red SE 2020 is on iOS 26

The iCloud-locked White SE 2020 is on iOS 18

The seller has shown valid ID and proof of ownership but can’t remember the iCloud credentials.

Before I buy it, I’d like to know:

Would a logic board swap still work between these two devices?

Does the new parts pairing restriction mean that the parts won't be functional or will it only show a message that the parts aren't genuine

Is there any chance that Apple themselves can unlock the parts by showing ID and proof of ownership?

Are there any safe but cheaper alternatives you’d recommend that still let me keep everything Apple original?

Appreciate any advice or firsthand experience anyone can share.

Thanks!

iPhone SE 2020: Is there a technique to reconnect the antenna cable?

While I was following the battery replacement instructions, I accidentally nudged this part, which then came loose:

I think it's the antenna cable, which was previously sitting atop the taptic engine connector (please let me know if this assumption is incorrect!)

By placing it where it should go, it looks like the other end goes in this gap:

I can see a small metallic connector under the plastic part, right in the center of this picture. Since this is a flexible cable, I can't push down on it like I can with other connectors with the plastic there.

Is there a way to either remove the plastic part in the top left of the picture, or to plug in the round end of this cable without needing to press down on it? The space seems just a little too narrow for the precision tweezers.
