Hello iFixers 🙌

I have two broken Apple Lightning cables. One is a USB to Lightning and the other one is USB-C to Lightning.

I'm more or less ok with the first one and it's wiring diagram - it has 4 wires just like the new replacement connectors I got from AliExpress 😁

However with a USB-C to Lightning I feel way less confident - this one has an additional blue wire and here I need your help - maybe someone could share a proper wiring diagram for this case?

Apple 30-pin to USB Cable: Why does my iPhone charger only have red, green, and white?

So my iPhone charger cable was broken, and i attempted to fix it myself. I opened the case and found the little green platform (don't know what does are called) which has label of W, G, R, and B. I figured those stand for White, Green, Red, and Black. However, when i cut open the wire from the middle, I found only 3 wires. Red, White, and Green. Since I also wanted my charger to be charge only, I searched online and figured that I only need the red and black cabled. BUT I CAN'T FIND THE BLACK CABLE ITSELF! Other than the red, green, and white, I also found 4 bunches of ultra thin wire grouped together. Are those the black cable's inside?

Can anyone tell me how to plug/tape the wires into the green platform so my iPhone would charge?

I frequently have lightning connectors that don"t reliably connect to an ipad or iphone and it seems like the surfaces of the connector are worn down. Is there a way to restore the surface to make a reliable connection again?

Lightning to USB cable: Why are there 8 cables in that Lightning extension?

I'm looking at a Lightning extension cable (with a female plug on one end and a male plug on the other) .

I would like to solder it to a standard Lightning cable (the 8 pin plug) which has 4 cables in it.

But if you look at the photo of the extension, there are 8 cables, in the following order:

black - white - green - yellow - red - purple - orange - blue

The standard 8-pin has 4 cables: gray - green - white - brown

It seems I have to solder every pair of cables from the extenion, to one cable from the 8-pin end.

But which combinations of colors should it be?

iPhone Accessories: Charger is slightly burnt on the end

My brother's charger has a small black burn mark on the end of the charger that plugs into your phone, it still works but there's the mark and I'm not sure what it's from and if it'll damage the phone when it's plugged in. I'm not looking for a fix, but I'd like to know if it'll damage the iPhone being plugged in. I can provide photos of it later if need be.

With several old USB-C to Lightning cables and now no need for the lighting side of them, is it possible to cut off the lighting ends of two cables and splice them together to make a longer USB-C to USB-C cable?

It seems like with the circuitry and resistors already in place on the factory USB-C ends it would be a simple strip and solder job on the corresponding wires, but wanted to check with wiser minds here before trying.

My dog chewed through my USB-C to USB-C cable that came with my 2020 MacBook Air. I’ve tried to connect all the wires by matching their colours but I’ve plugged it in and it still doesn’t work. Since there are three red wires I wondered if the order they are reconnected in matters. I am an amateur and don’t really know what I’m doing so any advice would help out.

Lightning to USB cable: Power cable repair help

The cable had damaged rubber near the top so I fixed it with some electrical tape. It wasn't a good fit though so I tried to take it off and reapply it though when removing the tape the cable came with it. I put tape over the effected area though now only chargers for a few seconds at a certain angle.

Hi,

I have a little problem here, I broke my iPhone 6 Lightning to USB cable.

I tried to open it so it will charge temporarily. There are 4 wires from USB connector cable Red, Black, White & Green. I don’t know how to connect or arrange it on USB connector of the cable. Should be Red, Black, White & Green? Or Red, Green, White & Black?

I am doing an experiment and trying to connect a usb c part of an iPhone charger cable to a usb a part. When I opened the charger that had a USB c, it didn't look like anything I have seen before (has 1 blue, 1 white, 2 copper, 1 green, and 4 uninsulated wires.) the usb a part has the standard (1 white, 1 red, 1 green 3 uninsulated)

which wires do I connect for charging? and which wires do what? (like ground, data -/+ etc) I cannot connect the wires to the port because I do not have to materials to do that.

iPhone Accessories: Removing a hardened glass screen protector?

Hi,

Two friends have hardened glass screen protectors (stick-on) on their phones that have cracked. The phone's screen glass appears fine, it's just the protectors that have cracked, and need to get removed.

Attempting with a fingernail to get underneath a corner of the protector shows that they are very firmly stuck on...

I was thinking about a heat gun - very gently - to soften the adhesive. But I haven't tried it yet, nor anything else.

Anybody have any luck with these ?

If I have to experiment, the good news is that one of the phones in question is about to be replaced anyhow, so it might be a good guinea pig.

i dropped in water along with phone, phone is working fine but smart battery is not charging and if I plug iPhone 7 in it , smart battery is heating and phone discharging. i tried to charge the battery separately there is no sign of charging.

Hello, I have made a 30 pin connecter cable for my iphone 4 since i dont have any, and the cable i did have was broken. I tried resoldering it to a USB cable i cut off, and when I plug it in to the phone, it freaks out and wont restart until I unplug it. Any help?

Smart Battery Case: Is there a reenforced tape or similar that can be applied to a new App

I bought a brand new, factory sealed Apple Battery Case for my aging iPhone 7 as a way of getting longer daily use without the need to recharge during the day. Was very happy with it for 4 1/2 months or so when the case started losing small flecks of the rubbery edging of the case. Then about a month ago, a piece of the edge came loose, eventually breaking off completely on the right hand top corner, and then a smaller piece broke off on the upper left hand corner. I seriously doubt Apple will do much of anything for me with my case, but I really enjoy the ability to go all day without having to recharge the battery as much. I'm thinking about buying another Apple battery case and would like to protect it from suffering the same fate, so I was wondering if anyone has an idea about reenforcing the top outer edge of the case with some really strong, really thin tape product, possibly something reenforced. Would appreciate any suggestions.

This is a picture of the case after one corner of the case broke off, since then the other top corner also broke off. This is for an iPhone 7, I really like having the extra battery capacity and will buy another new Apple battery case if I can protect it so this doesn't happen again, that's why I'm wondering if there is some sort of very thin, very strong tape or band that could be applied to the edge of the case to prevent a new case from breaking down. The case pictured is six months old, was purchased brand new in factory box.

Smart Battery Case: iPhone smart battery case not charging if chin has pressure unapplied

I have an iPhone 7 smart battery case on my SE 2020 (was no option for the 7 case that is why it says 6s) and if any pressure is applied on the “chin” it stops charging. This is especially annoying because of you have it in your pocket and sit down it does not charge. It is cracked right at the sides above (where the bottom corner of the phone rests not the outside corner of the case) on both sides as is common on these but not I have glued it back together and it still does this. Any help would be appreciated.
