iPhone 6: Touch ID not working after screen replacement?

I have made a screen replacement on my iPhone 6. Now the touch ID does not work any more. I have read that if the home button flex cable is damaged, this can occur. Is that really so? The button itself is working just fine.

I know for a fact that the home button can not be replaced because then touch id will not work, plus you can never upgrade the phone again without getting a error 53. Can you confirm this?

So my last question. Can I replace the home button flex cable or is that also coded to the chip or home button touch id?

iPhone 6: Ear speaker low sound when making calls

I have a customer that brought his iPhone 6 saying his ear speaker volume was very low and he could barely hear what the other person was saying even in a quiet room. I did some tests and when I use the recorder to record my voice and listen to it through the ear speaker the sound is crisp and clear, I hear very well.

When I try to make a phone call, the sound is very low, even with the volume at maximum. I tried switching SIM card and even replacing the ear speaker and flex cable.

What could be causing this problem ?

iPhone 6: GPS & Bluetooth work sporadically.

I have a 128GB iPhone 6, just out of warranty. Two days ago, the GPS signal and Bluetooth connections weakened. They still work, but GPS shows a cone of confusion about 100 feet wide, making navigation and fitness tracking impossible. Bluetooth works within about 3 feet, but any more than that, it cuts out.

My phone is 25 days out of warranty, and Apple and AT&T were not helpful. Anyone have an idea of what the issue could be? WiFi works fine, as do calls, and the phone in is near-mint condition. Any ideas of what the problem could be?

Thanks!

iPhone 6: iPhone 6 died suddenly and won't turn on.

Dear ifixit family,

I recently got an iphone 6 which was working quite nicely up until 2 days ago when the phone turned off, and when I clicked the home button, it showed me the red battery logo and the cable logo. Upon which I connected it to a charger, and the cable logo disappeared. Thinking all was fine, I left the phone to charge for almost an hour, and tried turning it back on.

And my blood ran cold. No response from the phone. Tried the home+power button routine. No dice. Left it on charge for a further 3 hours and tried all the possible combinations including holding the home button and connecting it to my mac. Nada.

It's been almost three days now and the phone isn't recognised by my mac nor is it turning on. Please help. I've had to go through a LOT including letting my client enslave me for 3 months. *sob*

iPhone 6: How to fix "slide to power off" screen that randomly shows up?

I dropped my phone on the first step of a pool and immediately picked it up after dropping it. I wasn't aware I should turn the phone off, so I just shook out the water, kept using it and put it on a charger... I know now that was not the correct steps. About an hour after dropping it I put it in a box of rice for a couple hours while still charging it. Then continued to use it for the rest of the night. It's now been 15 days since the water damage and I haven't tried to fix anything on the phone.

My phone works almost perfectly, battery stays charged, connects to itunes, speakers work perfectly, screen lighting perfect headphone jack works, microphone works, fingerprint works, etc. The only part that has problems is the power button, sometimes it doesn't work. It's very sporadic, I can go hours with it working fine, then other times it will be glitchy and take screenshots every time I try to use the home button. When the power button isn't working, a black screen also pops up (at it's worst times about every minute). All it says is slide to power off at the top with a toggle and at the bottom there's an x (cancel button). Most the time I just hit the cancel button and hope my phones not in the mood to keep asking me to turn it off every minute. When this is happening with my phone I can't use the power button to turn it off, but I can use the screen that shows up randomly to turn off the phone. Then once the phone is off the power button always works and lets me turn the phone back on, but once the phones back on it's completely random if the power button starts working again.

I've tried searching answers for this and I haven't been able to find anything on it. Anyone know what I should do?

iPhone 6: iPhone 6 dead after screen replacement (professional job)

Hi all,

I run a professional phone repair business and have done several iphone 6 with no major issues so far.

Today I worked on an iPhone 6 repair. The repair was going good, had put the new screen on and everything was fine. Just then I realised the home button was not clicking properly, for there were some small glass chips around it; so I decided to remove it again and clean it. I did so without removing the screen ( turned the phone upside down to work on the button). I removed the button flex, cleaned it and put it back in. When I when to test it the screen didn't come on, the power button didn't help either.

I then tried the usual tricks (hold power + home button for 10s, unplug the battery and so). I have removed the screen and put it back, checked all the connectors, have tried with the original screen again and nothing has worked so far. Phone looks as it's dead. I have left it charging (no charging icon) with no luck. I run out of ideas, any suggestions from you wise people?

thanks in advance,

iPhone 6: iPhone 6 cellular antenna location/replacement

Hi!

I'm experiencing huge cellular reception issues after upgrading from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6. All from drop outs in calls, other end cannot hear me, and general very poor reception on places where I had good reception with my iPhone 5 and the same carrier/sim card.

I have tried all the software things:

New sim card

Lock it to 3G

Reset network settings

So I may think that there is some problems with the hardware antennas. Does anyone know where the actual cellular antenna(s) is located on the iPhone 6? Is it the one down with the lightning port or is it one on the top? Or maybe both are used as cellular antennas?

Thanks for the help!

iPhone 6: itunes error 53 after iPhone 6 home button replacement?

Hello,

I have a iphone 6 with broken home button flex ripped and broken screen. I tried sending it in to apple, but they refused the repair (even payed repair) unless i paid more then i would pay for a new phone.

I read on some forum that doing a restore on a iphone 6 / 6+ on which the original home button / flex is damaged, the recovery will get stuck at 50% and give error 53 in itunes and remain stuck in recovery mode forever.

Currently the iphone contains data of the previous owner, but i am affraid to do a restore, since i probably will get a bricked device...

iPhone 6: phone works but touch screen is unresponsive after water damage.

I dropped just the top of my phone in water and it immediately went black. I soaked it in rice for 24 hours and it still wouldn't turn on. I brought it to a repair place where they cleaned it etc. They were able to get it to turn on, but I can't use it because the screen does not respond to my touch. They said it's a malfunction of the digitizer and for some reason there was nothing they could do. Is there any way to fix this? The screen isn't cracked or anything, the display is fine. If I replace the digitizer with one of your kits, should that fix the problem? What else can I do?

iPhone 6: Microphone issues only with Siri

I have a bit of an odd issue that I thought would be a quick fix, but has proved to leave me scratching my head.

3 months ago my iPhone 6 got some slight water damage in my pocket.

Shortly after everything seemed to be working just fine until I tried to use Siri and thats where I first noticed my problem. Let me confirm one thing, the microphone works great for phone calls, great with video, great with almost everything, yet when I try use siri, it shows the waves as if there is audio input, but no real audio is getting in.

When I attach headphones siri works great! No issues, but when I take them out, I get just waves of audio, but not actually audio coming from me.

I have only noticed this effect in one other area and that is with sending voice memos within iMessage, it is just a bunch of static noise. Normal voice memos work great.

Any thoughts on a solution

I tried replacing the lighting port assembly just now, which includes the microphone on the bottom, but alas, the same issue is still present. I am lost for ideas.

All help is appreciated. I can make a quick video if necessary.
