iPhone 5: Why won’t it turn back on?

Hey all I recently purchased a water damaged iPhone 5 off of a friend and it was certain it wouldn’t work again but for some reason when I put a spare screen on it, it turned straight back on but then I was curious so I put the old one back on to see weather it would work but it wouldn’t so I put the spare one back on with no success of it booting back on, there was some corrosion on the board connectors so I cleaned them, I’m certain I didn’t fry the board as it is still drawing just under an amp and that’s what it was taking last time, so I am leaving it on charge overnight to see if it somehow comes back to life but if not does anyone have any ideas?
iPhone 5: The metal clips for iPhone do not go back in properly

Hello.

I faced a problem with my iPhone 5, where the battery was replaced. However, on the left side, the metal clips do not go back in properly. How do I fix this?

It seems like the metal clips are bent on that side, and a portion of the metal clips do not go into position and click down. This results in an opening, allowing for dust to get in. Is this bad for future use?

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 5: Replaced screen but now phone won't turn on and runs extremely hot

My sister dropped her iPhone the other day, so when she picked it up the screen was black with glitch lines. I assumed the display had broken so I ordered a replacement, once it arrived I replaced the screen, put it on the charger and the phone started to quickly get hot on the side where the logic board is at (I didn’t think anything of it as her phone was doing this before) but it wouldn’t turn on. I then examined more closely to see if something wasn’t connected right, still nothing. From there I took the screen off another old iPhone 5 I had and tried it on hers, in case the new screen was just bad, and still no signs of power. Next I tried my sister’s phone screen on my old iPhone 5 and it worked perfectly fine with no issues. As a last resort I moved her logic board to my old iPhone and still nothing. Throughout the whole time I would put her phone on the charger it would just heat up and never would turn on. I also tried the battery discharge method and pressing the home and lock button method. Nothing seems to be working, can someone help?

iPhone 5: iPhone does not turn on, but still shows a few signs of life.

So previously I came in here asking for help because I had an issue with my display, which turned out to be defective and ifixit sent me a new one. After I replaced the new display, everything was working fine, the phone seemed to be working perfectly again.

However, after a few hours using it, the display just went black, just like that, suddenly. The screen was still lit up, but it was black. The phone still seemed to vibrate by using the mute unmute button or by keeping the home button pressed. I assumed there was a problem with the cables and that the connectors were not properly seated, so I opened the phone and reseated them (obviously disconnecting the battery before touching the display cables). After that, my phone never seemed to turn on again.

I can’t use my power button so the only way to turn on the phone is to connect it to a power source. There are two things that tell me it isn’t completely bricked:

It heats up when I connect it to a power source.

It is recognized when I connect it to my computer.

At first I thought it would be a display issue, but if it was a display issue, it would still light up, wouldn’t it? It doesn’t vibrate when I use the mute/unmute or the home button. Also, my old display doesn’t work either. So it’s unlikely that the issue is in the display. I also doubt it’s a battery issue. The battery is new. It heats up when it’s connected to a power source. The phone also doesn’t light up when I connect it without a battery. If I leave the phone in the open for a few days and connect it to my pc, it is not recognized. Only after I leave it charging for a few minutes and plug it in again it’s recognized, which makes me believe there is nothing wrong with the battery, since it seems to be charging and discharging normally.

Could it be a logic board issue? Please note that, since my power button is broken, I can’t hard reset the phone or try any other tricks that require the use of the power button. Also, I am currently not able to connect my phone to itunes, so that option is out too. Is there anything else I could do? I was thinking of taking it to a phone repair shop, but unfortunately, my country’s currently under lockdown, so no luck for me, at least for the next few weeks. Until then, I would like to try every option available to me. Replacing the logic board is not an option since I have data in here that I don’t want to lose.

iPhone 5: Phone went on dead mode after battery change after working fine for 1h

My phone went on dead mode in 2017 and was not even getting switched on even when i kept it for charging. replaced the battery of the phone by myself by following the instructions from the company I purchased the battery. It was successful as phone started to charge again and was switched on and was working all good. Suddenly it stopped charging after 70% and I was updating the phone with the latest software. As soon as software was updated the phone went off and was unable to switch on again. Its not charging either . I tried to reset or reboot by pressing the hone and power on button together for 20 seconds. But nothing happened. I feel that apples software doesn’t let the old iphones to work smoothly or work at all so that people can buy new ones.

iPhone 5: Cannot get any home button to work

Hello guys, i’ve tried 3 home buttons off Ebay already, but it’s not the contacts of the lightning connector assembly, when i short them the phone reacts like a home button press. The curious thing is, when i test button outside of the phone and measure the 2 contacts with a multimeter, shouldn’t i get closed circuit beep? Because i get nothing at all. I don’t know how the Buttons work electronically and if it’s typical to get faulty ones. I’d appreciate any hints a lot!

After screen and home button repair, my iPhone 5 turned on only once, after when it was dead, I charged it and it won’t turn on, so I tried to charge it and force reset. I plugged it into iTunes and it could not recognize the device. So I charge the device for around 30min and tried to force reboot but the front camera got really hot and the back camera (near the power button) was heating up, yet the screen is black except for a few times when the screen left portion was showing lines. Then, I took apart the phone and found out the battery cable, and the screen cable was loose, but could not find the cause for the phone not turning on and the lines while turning on.

iPhone 5: Not charging; changed battery and Lightning port

Hello,

I have seen similar posts, but not exactly my case, so I would like to ask for some advice.

I have an iPhone 5. Everything worked well except for the camera. I found another iPhone and took it apart as explained on ifixit to take out the camera. I put it in the other phone. I also changed the battery at the same time (new battery from ifixit).

Everything went well and has been working for some weeks.

Then the battery stopped charging. I noticed when it was caught in a boot loop when plugged. Tried with another battery (known to work), but it didn’t work in my phone. Tried to put it into recovery or DFU, but the phone was not recognized.

But the phone works perfectly with a charged battery, just the charging part doesn’t work.

So I thought that the Lightning port was not working. I followed the instructions on ifixit and switched the port with the one from the other phone (that worked). Result: the supposed faulty port works on the backup phone, the working port doesn’t work on my phone.

But when I plug the phone with a charged battery, it starts at least 50% of the time, so it seems like something works at least with the port, it’s just the charging that doesn’t work.

It must be something else than the port, but I don’t know what. In the other posts, I read things about U2 charging, but that seems too complicated for me. Do you think that there is something else I could try before giving up?

The backup phone I use for parts is locked (icloud), so I can’t just switch phones. But is there something else I could do? Use other parts?

Also: the new ifixit battery is completely dead and I cannot charge it. On my backup phone, I get into a boot loop when I plug it with this battery. But charging works with other batteries. As the home button doesn’t work, I can’t put it in recovery. I have tried to use reiboot, but the phone is not recognized. The phone does not restart when Reiboot is on, but it is not charging either (after 45 minutes). I use a mac or Ubuntu, so I haven’t tried other software that was recommended sometimes but only work on Windows.

Is it possible to give the battery a start somehow? Or is it possible to charge it inside the phone by physically forcing the phone not to start (remember: without home button and a power button not always responsive).

Thank you very much if you took the time to read everything! I just feel that it’s a shame to throw away electronic equipment that works well enough for a basic usage!
